Tom M. Young

Tom M. Young, 66, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a brief illness.

Tom was born July 24, 1959, in Merrill, son of James Young Sr. and Mary Ann (Weisman) Young. Tom married Bonnie Jean Hehling on May 19, 1990, in Merrill. She passed away on February 24, 2007. He worked as a welder for Merrill Equipment for many years. Tom enjoyed deer hunting, open water and ice fishing, snowmobiling, camping.

Survivors include his stepchildren, Rebecca Hehling, Kim (Tim) Nowak, and Jack (Lori) Hehling all of Merrill; siblings, Carol (Gary) Hartwig of Merrill, Bonnie (Tim) Banaszak of Waupaca, Jim Young Jr. of Merrill, and Jeff (DeeDee) Young of Merrill; sisters-in-law, Christine Peck-Young of Merrill and Elaine Kane Weisman of Tomahawk; stepmother, Marcella Young of Minnesota; friend, Tim Sprenger of Merrill; and 9 step grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Young; mother, Mary Ann Weisman Young; father, James Young Sr.; and siblings, David Young, Martha Jane (Tom Johnson) Weisman Johnson, Roger Weisman, John (Jamie) Young, and Dian Plautz.

A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.
