Thomas B. Gordon, affectionately known as Tom, passed away on June 20, 2025, at Aspirus Hospital in Merrill, Wisconsin. He was born on March 3, 1943, in Dodgeville, Iowa.
Tom dedicated 18 years of his career as a youth resident supervisor at Lincoln Hills School in Irma, Wisconsin, where he impacted the lives of countless young people. His commitment to helping others was profound and is remembered fondly by those who worked alongside him. In addition to his work at the school, Tom owned and operated a local tavern for ten years, providing a gathering place for friends and neighbors.
After attending Nicolet College for two years, Tom continued his journey through life with determination and grace. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967 during the Vietnam era, exemplifying his dedication to his country.
Tom’s personal life brought him immense joy, especially after he met his wife, Faye Ann Russ, while working at the Boys School in Irma. The couple exchanged vows on January 10, 1983, in Bessemer, Michigan, beginning a partnership that would last a lifetime. Their bond was characterized by love, mutual respect, and a shared appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Tom was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers, and NASCAR. His passion for these teams was a source of joy for him, and he eagerly followed their journeys throughout the seasons.
In addition to his sports passions, Tom enjoyed a rich array of hobbies, including shooting pool, pitching horseshoes, fishing, cross-country skiing, and traveling to Las Vegas. These pursuits brought him happiness and were often shared with friends and family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by those who knew him.
Tom is survived by his wife, Faye Gordon, son: Troy (Brenda) Gordon, daughter: Krista Riley, step-sons: Chris Liss, and Kelly Liss, sister: Nancy (Dar) Gordon, brother: Don (Julie) Gordon, granddaughters: Shian and Kelly Lynn, grandson: Dominick Riley and many nieces, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Sally and Cheryl, and nephew Gregory Gordon.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on a tentative date. Please check back for any updates.
