Sally K. Yellstrom

Sally K. Yellstrom, 68, of the Town Pine River, Lincoln County, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center – Weston.

Sally was born May 24, 1956, in Merrill, daughter of Lester and Doris (Mattson) Fruend. She married Louis ‘Louie’ Yellstrom on May 30, 1987, in Merrill. He survives. Sally graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree. She managed Stieber’s Country Way for several years and then worked in the meat department at Drew’s Piggly Wiggly – West. She then went to work at the former Hurd Windows and Sierra Pacific Industries in Merrill. She retired on March 3, 2025, after working there for 35 years. She began as the picker/packer loading semis and worked her way up to the position of Production Inventory Control Manager.

Sally enjoyed her flower gardens, watching NASCAR, Kentucky Derby parties with her sisters. She was an active 4H member, a former Lincoln County Fair Queen, and a member of the Eagles Club in Merrill for many years. In her younger years, she enjoyed music especially singing. She was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with everyone. One of her favorite pastimes was vacationing with her granddaughter, Breanna. Sally had a tremendous relationship with Bre. She and Louie raised Bre, eventually becoming her adoptive parents.

Survivors include her husband, Louis ‘Louie’ Yellstrom of Merrill; step son, Scott Yellstrom (fiancée Karen Heubsch) of Irma; granddaughter, Breanna (Jordan) Mahn of Merrill; great grandchildren, Hunter, Lorelei, and Kayce Mahn; sisters, Peggy Klammer of Windsor, CO, Alice (Terry) Prueser of Gleason, DeeDee Fruend of Merrill, Janet Wardall of Merrill, and Lucy Callahan of Merrill; brother, Brian (Peggy) Fruend of Merrill; sister-in-law, Sonya Yellstrom of Howards Grove, WI; brother-in-law, Greg Spoehr of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Doris Fruend; sister, Barbara Spoehr; mother-in-law, Adeline Yellstrom; sister-in-law, Leota Davis; brothers-in-law, Wayne Klammer, Lee Wardall, Jesse Callahan, and John Yellstrom; and nephew, Mitchell Fruend.

The memorial service for Sally will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 30, 2025, at Taylor-Stine- Waid Funeral & Cremation – 903 E. Third St., Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will preside. The family will receive friends be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
