Tomahawk

Richard Robert Kuehn was born December 6, 1928 in the Township of Merrill to Richard and Pauline (Allgaier) Kuehn, his father passed away when Richard was three months old.

Richard attended Hillside School and St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and Church. He began working at Weinbrenner Shoe Company at the age of 16.

Richard married Shirley Burgener June 5, 1954, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Doering, Wisconsin. They met while both worked at Weinbrenner Company. After their marriage, they resided in Merrill. Richard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, since 1957. Richard served as an usher for over 50 years. He was active in the Trinity School PTA and the PTA Stunt Shows and served on the School Board. He also did small carpentry jobs at Trinity. Richard also served on the Board of Directors for the former Bondshire Credit Union for many years.

After 32 ½ years, Richard left Weinbrenner and started ‘Richard R. Kuehn & Sons’, a carpentry and remodeling business. His sons worked with Richard in his business. Jim went on to other work while Tom worked with his dad until they closed the business in December of 1996. Richard then became a flea market vendor in the St. Germain and Boulder Junction areas and also did wood crafts. Richard was an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers Fan. He enjoyed going to the games and watching them on t.v. A fond memory of his was attending the 1982 World Series Games when the Brewers played the St. Louis Cardinals.

Richard grew up with his older sister and two older brothers but he also grew up in his extended Allgaier family. Richard had a full and rewarding life.
