Peter H. 'Jocko' Peterson

Peter H. ‘Jocko’ Peterson passed away May 23rd at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, age 89.

Peter was born in Merrill to Fred and Verle (Rickaby) Peterson. He attended local schools and graduated in 1955. After High School, he spent from 1955-1957 in the Army.

Peter worked in construction for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed playing slow pitch with the Blatz Bombers, hunting, golfing, and watching the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed crime shows on TV.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gerald; his sisters, Mary Jan, Donna Sleck, and Lucelia Peterson; and his nephews, Fred and Keith.

He is survived by his brother Floyd ‘Mick’ and wife Carol of Stevens Point. He was a special Uncle Pete to many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Gleason Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill. Immediately following the graveside service, a reception will be held at Gleason Bowling Center.
