Nathan Mark Cournaya left this earth to be with his Big Papa on Monday, May 17, 2010. He was born July 3, 1979 to Mark & Jenny (Geiger) Cournaya in Merrill.

Nathan was a 2000 graduate of Merrill Senior High School . He enjoyed watching sports with his dad, cuddling with his mom and watching ‘The Wiggles’ with his nephew. Nathan was an inspiration to all who knew him. His smile always lit up the room. Although he never spoke a word, he touched the hearts and souls of all who were lucky enough to know him.

Survivors include his parents: Mark & Jenny Cournaya, Merrill; 2 sisters: Jena (Scott Brandenburg) Cournaya, Stoughton , and Molly (Jerry) Lyon, Merrill; Paternal Grandmother: RoseMary Cournaya, Merrill; Maternal Grandparents: Gordon & Patricia Geiger, Merrill; 3 nieces: Samantha, Sydney and Jacey; 1 nephew: Wyatt; and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather: Leonard Cournaya and his Aunt: Roxy Geiger.

Services will be held 11:30 AM on Friday, May 21, 2010 at St. Frances Catholic Church. The Rev. James Horath will officiate. Friends may call from 4 – 8 PM Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Waid Funeral Home and again on Friday, May 21 from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery . In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the charity of your choice. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
