Muriel L. Kopetzky

Muriel Leona Kopetzky, age 93, of Merrill, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at her home while surrounded by her family and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. She was born on April 24, 1932, and was the daughter to the late Ellsworth P. and Alma L. (Pankow) Annis Sr. Muriel grew up in Merrill and attended and graduated from Merrill High School. She met the love of her life, Dale Duane Kopetzky, and the two were united in marriage on May 23, 1953, in Merrill. Sadly, he preceded her in death.

Muriel enjoyed being a homemaker but also enjoyed working outside of the home in various jobs, including being a unit secretary and a nurse’s aide. When they were younger, Dale and Muriel would look forward to traveling, going on bus tours and casinos. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed sharing her treats with family and friends. Muriel would also make sure that you had a few Werther’s in your pocket! She spent a lot of quality time with Dale and the kids after his retirement. Muriel liked to do crossword puzzles, play cribbage and Farkle, and crocheted. She loved watching the cardinals and she was the family babysitter for many years.  She was also an avid Packer and Brewer fan. Muriel adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lifetime member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill; her faith was an important part of her life. Muriel is remembered as being a strong-willed woman that was always honest about her thoughts and feelings. She will be sadly missed, but the memories will never be forgotten.

Muriel is survived by her children: Teresa, Michael (Renee), Mark (Amy), Patti (Russell), James, Jill (Norman) and Jonathon (Loretta), grandchildren: Jesse, Josh, Amanda, Adam, Jennifer, Jaquelin, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Megan, Ben, Shelby, Olivia and Claire, great grandchildren: Keegan, Kierra, Alayna, Brianna, Logan, Brady, Ava, Hayden, Piper and Brooks, brother: James Annis, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Dale, siblings: Charles Annis, Delores Neuman, Ellsworth Annis Jr., Robert Annis, Philip Annis, Donna Ziglinski, Larry Annis and Carol (John) Krueger.

The funeral service for Muriel will be held on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral Home at 301 Eagle Drive in Merrill, and again on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial at Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott, will immediately follow the service.
