Megan R. Latzig-Tugnoli

Megan Latzig-Tugnoli, 53, of Gastonia, NC passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, under hospice care at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.

Megan was born May 4, 1973, in Merrill, daughter of Walter and Betty Latzig. She graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1991 . Megan enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 22, 1991. She was honorably discharged on November 21, 1995 and had attained the rank of Senior Airman. Megan received her Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management and worked at Blum, Inc as the Human Resource Director.

Megan was a Soccer Mom through and through. She loved supporting her son and his teams. Megan also enjoyed hiking, caring for her cats, Zoey and Teeger; and sunbathing by the pool.

Survivors include her husband, Sauro Tugnoli of Gastonia, NC; son, Matteo Tugnoli of Gastonia, NC; mother, Betty Latzig of Merrill; sister, Cynthia (Ron) Wilson of Clinton, MO; brothers, Greg (Susie) Latzig, Brian Latzig, Mark Latzig and Kent (Tammy) Latzig all of Merrill; mother-in-law, Franca (Giordano) Pozzati and sister-in-law, Marisa Tugnoli of Ferrara, Italy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and many cousins.

Megan was preceded in death by her father, Walter ‘Wally’ Latzig; sister-in-law, Diana Latzig; father-in-law, Romeo Tugnoli; and sister-in-law, Valeria Tugnoli.
