Marjorie A. English was born January 22, 1928, to Harold and Alice (Friday) Lindquist in Merrill, Wisconsin. She died August 10, 2025, at her home. She was a 1946 graduate of Merrill High School. She worked as a dental assistant, but her favorite job was being a mom and grandma.
On June 11, 1949, she married John English. She and John enjoyed their six children and were involved in their activities. When John retired, they traveled throughout the U.S. In 2007, Marge visited her Lindquist relatives in Norway.
Marge liked big band music, Angela Lansbury movies, going out to lunch with her family, writing poems, listening to Merrill Bluejay games on the radio, and living in her home on Grand Avenue since 1951.
She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church and the Ruth Circle.
Marge is survived by: son Tom English; daughters Julie (Roger) Wendorf, Jean (Dan) Bowen, Sue (Scott) VanDerGeest, and Cindy (John) Pintens, all in Merrill; and Katie (Jim) Krause in Madison, WI.
She is further survived by 11 grandchildren: Marcy (Adam) Christensen, Dan (Jenny) Wendorf, Mike (Brooke) Wendorf, Brittany (Brit) Bowen, Lacey (Matt) Goergen, Jonathan Krause, Andy (Ashlee) VanDerGeest, Brad (Danielle) VanDerGeest, Kristin (Kadin) Boardman, Kelsey Pintens, and Katie Pintens.
She was overjoyed to welcome 12 great grandchildren: Riley, Morgan, Taylor Christensen; Sophie and Cooper Wendorf; Ayla, Tenley, Laney Wendorf; Marjorie Bowen-Lindert; Genevieve Goergen; Brynn Boardman; Addilynn VanDerGeest; and cousins, nieces, nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband John in 2012, parents, three brothers: Jim, Jack, Tom (Kathy) Lindquist; in-laws: Prentiss and Helen English, Audree and Leonard Ronis, Phil and Margaret Ann English, Roger and Lenore English.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, 300 Logan St. in Merrill, followed by a memorial service at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Our Saviours Lutheran Church OR The Merrill Park and Recreation Department, 1100 MARC Drive, Merrill, Wisconsin, to plant a tree at Streeter Square where Marge spent many hours as a child growing up on Scott St.
