Lois M. Wold, 95, of Merrill, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
Lois was born September 28, 1929, in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, daughter of Albert E. and Alice (Weber) Krause. She married Donald J. Wold on November 22, 1947, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2005. Lois worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company for over 25 years. Lois and Don enjoyed traveling and fishing trips to Gogebic Lake in Michigan. Lois was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.
Lois was spunky and independent. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren on special trips including concerts and Brewers games. She also loved spending time with her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Lois was an active member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ and enjoyed the time she spent with fellow members. She volunteered for several years at Pine Crest Nursing Home. More recently, as a resident at Pine Crest, Lois loved participating in the activities they offered.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra (Michael) Prain of Gleason, Donna Frisch of Merrill, and Sarah Semling of Merrill; grandchildren, Chris (Mary) Frisch, Rebecca (Peter) Wegner, Stephanie (Tony) Ludke, and Erika Frisch; great grandchildren, Caitlin (Jason) Quarters, Breanna Ludke, Kaleb Wegner, Colton Frisch, and Lacey Frisch; great great grandchildren, Thomas and Sophia Quarters; sister, Judith Schmidt of Tomahawk; and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wold; parents, Albert and Alice Krause; sons-in-law, John Frisch and Matt Semling; siblings, Warren Krause, Roger (Carol) Krause, Alice (Maurice ‘Rudy’) Tewes, and Albert (Joan) Krause; and brother-in-law, Jerry Schmidt.
The funeral service for Lois will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Michael Southcombe will preside. Entombment will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday at the church.
