Juliana 'Julie' Baumgart

Juliana “Julie” Dorothy Baumgart, 86, of Merrill, passed away on September 23 at her residence in Merrill, Wisconsin. Julie was born August 1, 1940, in Merrill to Elroy and Dorothy (Pickruhm) Zimmerman. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1958 and married LaVerne “Vern” Baumgart on May 6, 1961, in Merrill. Julie accompanied Vern to Germany in 1965 where he served in the United States Army. After moving to Green Bay, Julie worked in childcare and later in retail until her retirement in 1998 from Buddy Squirrel at Port Plaza Mall where she was Store Manager. After retirement, Julie and Vern moved to Henderson, Nevada where they lived for ten years before moving to Northern Virginia to be closer to their grandchildren. In 2009, they returned to Green Bay where Julie and Vern enjoyed retirement life. Julie enjoyed traveling in the United States and around the globe and visiting her grandchildren. In 2020, Julie and Vern returned to Merrill.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Amy (Steve) Hood in Oakton, Virginia, and two grandsons, Zach (Binghamton, New York) and Owen (Harrisonburg, Virginia); sisters, Faye (Jerry) Marnholtz and Carol Frederick both in Merrill; sister-in-law Mary Rutell in Milwaukee; brothers-in-law Dick (Gay) Baumgart in Merrill and Virgil (Marilyn) Baumgart in Baldwin. Julie was preceded in death by her husband Vern, and her parents; sister-in-law, Gloria (Robert) Noel; brothers-in-law, Beryl Baumgart, Larry (Beverly) Baumgart and Roger (Donna) Baumgart; and brother-in-law, Robert Frederick.

The family would like to thank the care team and maintenance staff at Bell Tower Residence and Interim HealthCare Hospice for the care and support they provided to Julie and our family.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation – 301 Eagle Dr., Merrill. Rev. Jen Hoffman will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00A.M., Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, Wisconsin or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
