Janie M. Allen

Janie M. Allen, 65, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at her home under the care of her family and hospice services.

Janie was born April 6, 1961, in Geneva, Illinois, daughter to Robert and Patsy (Graves) Hinterlong. She graduated from the former Batavia Senior High School in Illinois. She married David G. Allen on July 9, 1983, in Batavia, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2009. Janie worked as a short order cook at various restaurants. She moved to the Merrill area nine years ago to be closer to family. While in Merrill, she worked at Bell Tower Residence and County Market. Janie loved sitting on the front porch and watching nature.

Survivors include her siblings, Misty Holm of Crystal Falls, MI, Benita (George) Marriott of Merrill, Robert (Khonsawan) Hinterlong of Merrill, and Roberta Armstrong of Crystal Falls, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Janie was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen; and her parents, Robert and Patsy Hinterlong.

Burial will take place at a later date in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, MI.
