Jane K. Schulz

December 19, 1956 — July 8, 2025

Merrill

Jane was born December 19, 1956, in Merrill, the daughter of Vernon and Joyce “Totsy” (Burrow) Kleinschmidt. She married Daniel Schulz on December 6, 1975. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2017.

Throughout her working years, Jane worked as a bank teller for 25 years at Lincoln County Bank, later Lincoln Community Bank and M Bank, in both Merrill and Gleason. She also ran Blue Ribbon Academy Preschool for a few years with her sister Susie.

Jane cherished time with her family—especially watching her children grow up. She attended countless baseball games, wrestling matches, and horse shows, and was Jason’s Cub Scout leader. She was actively involved at Washington School, helping organize PTO events and school carnivals, and she always made sure Danielle and Jason had the best birthday treats to bring to class.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always found joy in picking out little gifts that reminded her of them. She loved celebrating holidays and birthdays and always went the extra mile to make them special—even for the animals. She enjoyed crafting, doing puzzles, and making memories through life’s little moments.

Jane had a deep love for animals and the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time at the barn caring for the animals, driving her side-by-side through the woods, watching her family make maple syrup, and sitting around the campfire. Jane loved being around horses and spent many weekends at horse shows with Danielle and Maddie. She adored her cats—Pinto, Shadow, Oscar, and Cabbit. She also loved watching birds and wildlife and checking the trail cameras during “coon club.”

Thirty-five years ago, Jane and Sue Kunkel founded the Merrill Busy Bees 4-H Club. Jane was a devoted leader who spent countless hours planning crafts and decorating the fair booth. During the fair, she loved helping her family in the chicken and horse barns. In recent years, she enjoyed entering her antiques, crafts, and photography at the Lincoln County Fair.

Jane was a true people person—kind, generous, and always up for an adventure, rarely saying no. She loved going out to eat with friends and family, treasure hunting at junk stores and garage sales, and playing cards, games, and Scrabble. She had a big heart and a special way of making people feel cared for. Her fun personality and kindness left a lasting impact on many.

In recent years, Jane enjoyed spending time at her cottage on Lake Alexander. Some of her happiest moments were spent there—relaxing on the deck, going for boat rides, playing games, and having sleepovers with her family. She also loved visits to the family’s land on Lake Michigan.

Survivors include her children, Jason (Bobbie) Schulz of Merrill and Danielle Schulz (Rich Twomey) of Merrill; mother, Joyce ‘Totsy’ Kleinschmidt of Merrill; grandchildren, Madison Schulz (John Langren), Cassie (Bryce) Lezotte, MaKayla (Ryan) Golisch, and Alexandra Schulz (Fiancé Patrick Perra) all of Merrill; great grandchildren, Rosie Lezotte, Easton Lezotte, Jameson Golisch, Rayla Golisch, Whitley Golisch, and baby Morgan Golisch on-the-way; sister, Susan ‘Susie’ Adumat of Fitchburg; niece's, Mary Jane (Dave) Mullins, Sarah (Bob) Campbell, Nancy (Chad) Conley, and Stephanie (Dave) Miller; nephews, John Adumat and Scott Schulz; brother-in-law, Steve (Cheryl) Schulz of Merrill; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
