James Roger Pehlke

James R. Pehlke, age 84, passed away on May 6, 2026 at home under hospice care. Born in Merrill on May 15, 1942, Jim was the son of the late Marie Laabs and Norman Pehlke.

Jim graduated from Merrill High School in 1960. On June 6 1964, he was united in marriage to Jane Schewe at St. Roberts Parish in Merrill. He was a golden member of the Silver M Club and a successful football player through high school.

Jim graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Steven’s Point University and was chief financial officer of several companies throughout his lifetime. After retirement he enjoyed traveling and was like a tour guide wherever he went. He was an avid lacrosse fan, never missing a game—all three of his boys played. He was also an avid reader with a sharp mind and a great sense of humor.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jane Pehlke, of 62 years; sons, Jeffrey (Laurie), Christopher, Kevin (Wesley); grandchildren, Jake, Mitchell, Hurst, Richard, and Sara; two great grandchildren and sister, Jeanne Fehrma.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Pehlke and Marie and Henry Laabs.

Funeral mass will be held at Bell Tower May 18, 2026 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation, 301 Eagle Drive, Merrill, Wisconsin 54452 on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
