Irene Wiater

Irene H. Wiater, 90, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill.

Irene was born in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania to the late John and Apolonia (Kempisty) Penzinska on April 25, 1920. She married Joseph Wiater in Chicago , Illinois on May 28, 1944. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1988.

Irene attended school in Chicago . She was a homemaker who enjoyed many things, including ceramics, making hats, sewing, stained glass, knitting, playing Scrabble, and too many hobbies to name. Irene was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Chicago for most of her life. She was very involved in the activities at Bell Tower Residence.

Survivors include 2 sons: James (Cherie) Wiater, Montreal , MO , and Daniel (Dolores) Wiater, Tomahawk, WI; 7 grandchildren: Melissa, Jennifer, Victoria, Julie, Joseph, Cynthia and Barbara; 10 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Zachary, Reid, Anna Lee, Alexis, Joanna, Andrew, Abigail, Kaylee, and Michael; and 1 sister: Penny (Edward) Jackstis, Prospect Heights , IL .

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 1 son, William.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Chicago , IL . Burial will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles , IL . Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10 ^th from 9 – 11 AM at Bell Tower Residence and again on Friday, June 11 ^th at Kolbus – John V. May Funeral Home in Chicago , IL from 4-9 PM.
