Florence Dorfschmidt

Florence Dorfschmidt, 81, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital .

Florence was born on January 29, 1929 in Merrill to the late Arthur & Emma (Pophal) Kleinschmidt. She married Roger “Jigs” Dorfschmidt June 21, 1947. He preceded her in death December 4, 1988.

Florence was a 1946 graduate of Merrill Senior High School . She worked for Tiny Tot Furniture Company, The Badger Theatre and later for Kellner’s/Hull’s Ben Franklin Store where she worked for 43 years until retiring in 1997. Flo was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ. She loved her own dogs but always had a special place in her heart (and treat in hand) for the other dogs in her neighborhood. Flo enjoyed spending time with her ‘adopted’ grandchildren. She also loved her candy, sending cards to friends and eating chocolates.

Survivors include her sister: Ruth (Cliff) Wolff, Virginia Beach , VA ; niece: Susan Beachum, Chesapeake , VA ; grand-nephew: Craig Beachum; grand niece: Amy Hutter; special friends: Gerald & Sandy Hull, Jerry & Sandy Weber, and Mary Fischer, all of Merrill; adopted grandchildren: Saxxon & Kailey Schreiber, Merrill and Samara, Cara, Kristina & Nathan Hull, Colby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Roger “Jigs” and one son: Randy.
