Eileen J. Eggebrecht

Eileen Janice Eggebrecht, age 80, of Merrill, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born on April 4, 1945 to the late Harold “Happy” and Lydia (Hahn) Holz in Merrill. Eileen attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Robert’s of Merrill in 1963.

As a young adult, Eileen was a mother and homemaker. An ambitious and driven woman, Eileen soon found herself pursuing her education, and earned numerous degrees throughout her lifetime. She was always learning something new. Eileen worked for the Central Wisconsin Uniserv Council for many years, while also working other various part-time jobs. Eileen married the love of her life, Orlin Eggebrecht twice in 1974, a union lasting 50+ years. He survives.

Eileen has a passion and talent for sewing and quilting. She was known to have many different projects going on at the same time. She enjoyed going to quilting seminars all over the country. Eileen also did pattern testing for quilting magazines and had her work published. She was a member of the Trinity quilters.

When she was relaxing, you could find her with a book. Eileen was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. She shared her love for others on mission trips to Guatemala and has sponsored numerous children there. Eileen was a kind and generous person that took care of her family in every way. She has sewn together a beautiful family, and they will miss her dearly.

Eileen leaves behind her husband: Orlin Eggebrecht, 7 children: Krystal (Jim) Kelly, Ricci Peterson, Rex (Shelley) Richard, Rod Richard (significant other: Amanda), Allieson Barden (significant other: Paul), Adonnica (Ike) Laabs and Roy Eggebrecht (significant other: Sarah), 4 step-children: Michael Eggebrecht, Pat Karasek, Roman Eggebrecht and Rick Eggebrecht, 25 grandchildren: Shantelle, Shaynah, Shannon, Shayla, Bobby, Joe, Lukas, Amber, Kaylie, Jaclyn, Tyler, Brittany, Ava, Eve, Ian, Xandra, Alexan, Lexee, Asa, Lance, Kyah, Zach, Bryce, Brady and Bellamy. 21 great grandchildren: Elaina, Dylan, Hailey, Zoey, Izayah, Gracie, Lillan, Zoey, Braxton, Deaija, Miah, Opollo, Owen, Beau, Oaklee, Hailey, Olivia, Flynn, Finn, Joel and Abriel, and brother: Norbert (Sharon) Holz and dog: Velcro. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life for Eileen will be held at a later date.
