Dorothy M. Lass

Dorothy M. Lass, age 87, of Merrill, died on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born on November 17, 1937 to the late Joseph and Stella (Paul) Marcek in Marinette, WI. Dorothy attended and graduated from the Marinette High School with the class of 1956. She married her soul mate, Ronald Lass, on June 1, 1957, in Marinette, WI. Sadly, he passed away on July 4, 2020.

Dorothy was a stay-at-home mother of three children. She enjoyed cooking, baking and having a hot meal for all to eat when they came home! She enjoyed socializing and hosting parties with friends and family. In her younger years, Dorothy was a recorded opera singer, she enjoyed golfing and bowling and was an exceptional ballroom dancer with Ronald. She was a member of the singing group, “Sweet Adeline’s”. When the children left the house, Dorothy worked at Thelmas clothing store for 8 years where lifelong friendships were developed with Mary, June, Patsy and others.

Dorothy also looked forward to reading a good romance or mystery novel, going gambling, playing bingo or a few rounds of cards with friends. She was a skilled seamstress, especially with crocheting and knitting blankets.

Ron and Dorothy enjoyed being snowbirds for over 22 years in Florida for a few months out of the year, and coming home for the summer to be with family and friends. They loved traveling throughout the United States, trips to Alaska, Texas, California and Virginia, just to name a few.

Dorothy enjoyed Friday night fish fries, and visiting with friends and family. She adored her children and grandchildren.

Daughter: Audrey Lass, with her children: Heather (Beaver) Plautz, with their children: Piper, Paige and Josh, Adam (Christy) Grund and Morgan Matthiae (fiancé, Jeremy), with their children: Madison, Preston and Ethan,

Son: Bob (Wendy) Lass, with their children: Eric (Renee) Lass, with their children: Jade and Logan, Michael Lass and Krista (Travis) Harcrow, with their children: Zoe and Archer

Son: Joseph (Dawn) Lass, with their children: Carly (Dan) Novak, with their children: Emma, Liam and Connor and Kayla Lass, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Ronald and siblings: Bill Marcek, Jean Flunker, Marie Lager and Sally Marcek.

Chapel service will be held at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
