Dorothy M. Jaeger, 101, of Merrill, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, at Aspirus Merrill Hospital.
Dorothy was born May 12, 1925, in the Town of Berlin, Marathon County, to Max and Ella (Lambrecht) Nass and grew up in the same house she was born in. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. In her teen years, she helped on the family farm and also helped raise her seven siblings. She loved growing up with her brothers and sisters.
Dorothy married Algart Mueller on June 19, 1947. Together, they took care of the family farm and raised their five children. Algart preceded her in death on November 8, 1972. Dorothy then married Milfred Jaeger on May 7, 1977. Milfred and Dorothy were both custodians at Faith Lutheran Church, Village of Maine, for 32 years. Milfred preceded her in death on May 5, 2009.
Dorothy was a 4-H Leader, and volunteered at Bethesda and at The Commission on Aging. She belonged to Homemakers Clubs, Card Clubs, and was a member of the Pommerscher Verein. She loved playing BINGO and always won! She also enjoyed word searches, watching movies, taking bus trips, and coloring. She loved being involved with her church and belonged to the quilting circle. While residing at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, Dorothy enjoyed attending the Trinity Lutheran Church services and listening to the services on the radio.
Dorothy was honest, kind and gentle, and generous. She was very thankful for her family and friends visits and always sent them away with candy and cookies.
Survivors include her children, Dan (Nancy) Mueller of Wausau, William (Rita) Mueller of Wausau, Tom (Judy) Mueller of Merrill, Cheryl Mueller (Jerome Johnson) of Mercer, and Carol Mueller (Chris Wisniewski) of Tomahawk; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one great great grandchild on-the-way; step-son, Larry (Ginny) Jaeger of Wausau; step daughter-in-law, Char Mueller of Madison; two sisters, Bonnie Radtke of Merrill and Phyllis Buch of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Algart Mueller and Milfred Jaeger; parents, Max and Ella Nass; step-son, Ray Mueller; grandson-in-law, Adam Wirtz; siblings, Elvera (Hugo) Beilke, Marvin (Lucille) Nass, Rueben (Diana) Nass, Robert (LoRayne) Nass, and DuWayne (Carol) Nass; and brothers-in-law, David Radtke and Allen Buch.
The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 7, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Jon Chapa will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, Town of Hamburg, Marathon County. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 A.M., Friday at the church.
