Dean Lewis Flemal, 58, of Merrill, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 30, 2026.

He is lovingly survived by his aunt, Barbara "Bobbi" Kraetsch; his cousins, Rev. Michelle "Missy" (Rev. Tim) Miller and Paul (Jackie) Kraetsch; and his special cousins, Landis (Jewell) Holdorf, Maggie Holdorf and Jerzie Kraetsch. He is also survived by Landis David, Florence and Clara Holdorf, along with extended family, several other cousins, and many dear friends whose lives he touched.

Dean graduated from Merrill Senior High School and later a degree in Criminal Justice from Northcentral Technical College. He dedicated several years of service to his community, working with Marathon County Sheriff's Department, Wood County Sheriff's Department, and the Wausau Police Department. During his career, he served as a 911 Coordinator, Crisis and Hostage Negotiator, Board of Directors member, and first responder, earning the respect and appreciation of both his colleagues and the communities he served.

Outside of work, Dean had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a passionate Wisconsin sports fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. As a proud Green Bay Packers shareholder, his love for the team ran deep.

Bowling was another of Dean's lifelong passions. He was active in local leagues and competed in numerous tournaments throughout the years. His dedication to the sport earned him the distinguished honor of induction into the Merrill Bowling Hall of Fame.

Dean will be remembered most for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and his ability to make others laugh. His kindness, loyalty, and love for family and friends will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
