Clarence Schroeder

Clarence Schroeder, 86, passed away at Pine Crest Health and Memory Care under the care of Interim Healthcare Hospice on the beautiful sunny morning of Friday, September 25, 2026 with his family by his side. Clarence was born November 12, 1939 to Ernest and Evelyn Schroeder. He spent his first years growing up in Chicago, until the family moved back to Merrill.

Clarence graduated from Merrill High School in 1958. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for eight years. During that time, he was stationed in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Merrill where he worked at Anson-Gilkey and Semling-Menke until his retirement.

Clarence loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers-in-law and nephews, as well as small game hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed attending family gatherings and spending time with his sisters and their families.

He is survived by his two sisters Beverly (Don) Zabawa and Kathy Turner; his niece Sue (Tim) Finnegan and their children Chelsey (Adam) Gieseler and Mitch Finnegan.

Clarence was preceded in death by his father Ernest Schroeder, his mother Evelyn Jaeger and stepfather Ted Jaeger; an infant sister Elfrieda Schroeder; and his brother-in-law Bob Turner.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff of Pine Crest and Interim Healthcare Hospice for the care they provided Clarence while at Pine Crest. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638 – Merrill.

The family asks that any memorials be given to the Lincoln County Humane Society or a charity of your choosing.
