Chris Dale Severt

January 18, 1959 — June 14, 2026

Chris Dale Severt, was born on January 18, 1959, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Donald and Lois Severt. He passed away on June 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of joy, creativity, and inspiration that will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Chris graduated from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan, where he was known for his athletic spirit, playing center on the football team, competing as a heavyweight wrestler, and participating in basketball and track. After graduation, he attended Northcentral Technical College’s two-year program for welding. A special thank-you to Karen Akey as his interpreter and good friend. Throughout his life, he embodied a “can-do” attitude, never letting his disability hold him back.

For 45 years, Chris worked as a welder at 51 Sports Shop, where his talent for fabrication was unmatched. He could turn any idea into a reality and was passionate about woodworking as well. An active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine River, Chris's strong faith was a guiding light in his life.

Beyond his professional and spiritual pursuits, Chris was an outgoing and artistic soul who loved the outdoors, trout fishing, drumming, and dancing. His infectious spirit and ability to make everyone around him smile were hallmarks of his personality.

Chris is survived by his siblings, Mark Severt, Debra (Todd) Schwartzman, Patrick (Jane) Severt, Dianne (Brad) Detert, and Robert "Bob" Severt; nieces, Bethany, Katelyn, Tiffany, and Morgan; nephews, Adam, Dale, Craig, and Devon. He also leaves behind several cousins, and close friends who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother, Thomas "Tom" Severt, great-nephew, Theodore Kirchberger; and several aunts and uncles.

A special thank you goes to Compassus Hospice for their kindness during Chris's final days. We invite friends, family, and community members to join us in celebrating Chris's life.
