Ann L. Fondow

Ann Fondow, age 84, a resident of the Town of Pine River, passed away at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Ann was born to Charles and Lorraine Steinke on March 30, 1942. She was a proud “Yooper” who graduated from Kingsford High School and Eastern Michigan University.

After graduating from Eastern Michigan University, Ann was the fine women’s fashion buyer for the HC Prange department stores, a children’s librarian, a substitute teacher for the Green Bay Public Schools and then was hired as a full time teacher, first for an at-risk program for high school students and then as a Family and Consumer Science teacher. A few years before retirement, Ann started a health services academy and taught CNA and medical terminology courses. In addition to her many other talents, Ann had a remarkable sense of style, and she made clothes look good on her.

Ann had two brothers, Charles and Roy, who preceded her in death. Ann is survived by her son, Jerome Charles Glaeser, Jerome’s French Bulldog, Poppy Starr, cousins Cynthia Steinke and Kathy Dillhey, sisters in law Patricia Steinke and Jane Steinke, and five nephews, including Charles, Jeff, and Steve Steinke and Jared and Roy Steinke. She is also survived by her husband, Terry Fondow.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at St. Stephens, UCC, Merrill, Wi at a time to be determined.
